Prague's historic center is stunning, but it is heavily divided by the river and massive tourist crowds. The map helps you visually anchor your trip—choose whether you want to sleep right in the intense, magical core of Staré Město, or cross the Charles Bridge for a quieter, more romantic experience in Malá Strana.
The map makes it easy to find a base near your top priorities—whether that means walking to the Astronomical Clock at sunrise or staying near the main train station for easy day trips.

Best areas to stay in Prague
Prague is divided into numbered districts, with Prague 1 and 2 housing almost all major tourist attractions.
Old Town (Staré Město)
The absolute historic center of Prague (District 1). Stay here to be surrounded by the Astronomical Clock, the Jewish Quarter (Josefov), and stunning Gothic architecture. It is the most convenient area, but also the loudest, busiest, and most expensive.
Lesser Town (Malá Strana)
Located across the Charles Bridge, sitting right beneath Prague Castle. Stay here for incredibly beautiful, winding cobblestone streets, baroque churches (St. Nicholas), and a much quieter, romantic atmosphere compared to the Old Town.
New Town (Nové Město)
Adjacent to the Old Town (despite the name, it dates back to the 14th century). Stay here for wider streets, Wenceslas Square, the Dancing House, and immediate access to the main train station (Praha hlavní nádraží). It offers great value and slightly less crowding.
Žižkov & Vinohrady
Located just east of the center (Prague 2 & 3). Stay here to escape the tourist crowds and experience how locals live. Vinohrady offers upscale cafes and parks, while Žižkov is famous for having the highest concentration of pubs and dive bars in Europe.
Hotels near Prague’s top attractions
If you are visiting to explore massive castles, historic bridges, or centuries-old squares, compare hotels near the landmarks that matter most.
Hotels near the Charles Bridge
Base yourself in either Staré Město or Malá Strana to be steps away from this iconic, 14th-century stone bridge for early morning, crowd-free walks.
Hotels near Prague Castle
Staying in the Hradčany or upper Malá Strana districts puts you right next to the largest ancient castle complex in the world and the stunning St. Vitus Cathedral.
Hotels near the Old Town Square
Look for hotels in the heart of Prague 1 to be surrounded by the Astronomical Clock, the Church of Our Lady before Týn, and vibrant street performers.
Hotels near Wenceslas Square
If you want a central location with excellent metro connections and endless shopping, staying in the New Town near this massive boulevard is ideal.

Stay in the northern part of the Old Town to easily explore the beautifully preserved synagogues and the haunting Old Jewish Cemetery.

Which area is right for your trip?
Best for first-timers and short weekend breaks
Old Town (Staré Město). It is the postcard version of Prague. You step out of your hotel and are immediately surrounded by the most famous landmarks, though you will pay premium prices.
Best for romance and a quieter atmosphere
Malá Strana. It is just as beautiful as the Old Town, but the massive tour groups tend to leave by the early evening, leaving the cobblestone streets incredibly peaceful and romantic.
Best for budget travelers and backpackers
Žižkov or the New Town. You will find much cheaper hostels, Airbnbs, and food. Žižkov is especially popular for its gritty, vibrant pub culture and younger demographic.
Best for business and transit logistics
New Town (Nové Město). The streets are wider, it is much easier to catch a taxi or Uber, and you are right next to the main railway station for international departures.
Compare Prague hotels by location before you book
The easiest way to plan your Czech city break is to compare hotels directly on the map. Check which properties are near a Metro station, compare boutique stays in Malá Strana, and find the spot that fits your travel plans perfectly.
Prague Hotel Map FAQ
How do I get from Prague Airport (PRG) to the city center?
There is no direct train. The cheapest way is taking the Airport Express (AE) bus to the main train station, or taking the 119 bus to the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station. Taxis and Uber are also readily available.
What currency is used in Prague?
The Czech Republic uses the Czech Koruna (CZK), not the Euro. Most hotels and restaurants accept cards, but you will need small cash for street food and minor purchases. Avoid Euronet ATMs due to high fees.
Are Prague hotels air-conditioned?
Not always. Many historic boutique hotels and older apartments do not have central A/C. If you are visiting in July or August, verify this amenity before booking.
Is Prague a walkable city?
Highly walkable, but the cobblestones are notoriously tough on feet, and the walk up to the castle is steep. Bring sturdy, comfortable walking shoes. The tram and metro system is also excellent and cheap.
